Every Work Order represents one logical job and may be created from a Quotation or from the Bill of Materials and Services of a Finished Goods Inventory item. The components of a Work Order are:
- Output: The output of the Work Order represents the product/s that are being manufactured.
- By-products: The usable by-products that are created during the manufacturing process which need to be received into stock.
- Bill of Materials: The materials required for the job, grouped and linked to components where applicable.
- Services: The services required for the job, internal and outsourced. The Services are ordered and can also be grouped and linked to components.
QuickEasy Work Orders elegantly handle the following production scenarios, in each case providing accurate worktickets and cost summaries. Click the thumbnails to enarge:
- Running a job differently to the way it was estimated: This can be done without changing the quoted price on the Sales Order - the Work Order will, however, reflect the change in the cost of the job. This scenario also applies to spreading a large job to run simultaneously on different machines.
- Grouping different jobs on one Work Order: Often you are able to save on production costs by running different jobs together. The Work Order module can output multiple items from different Sales Orders.
- Spreading large orders onto multiple Work Orders: Large orders can generally be delivered over a period of time and are seldom manufactured in one batch. QuickEasy allows you to create multiple Work Orders against a single Sales Order so that the materials and production time required for each batch is accurately reflected on the workticket.
- Using Finished Goods Stock: When you manufacture standard products, it makes sense to use the Inventory module to manage your production. Sales Orders are used to satisfy customer orders from Inventory and Work Orders are in turn used to replenish the Inventory when minimum levels are reached.
Like all the other documents that are printed from QuickEasy, the Workticket (Job traveller) is also derived from a customisable template and can be printed to any size on paper, board or directly onto an envelope - subject only to the limitations of your printer. Re-costing - Actuals vs. Estimated
One of the most valuable features of QuickEasy MIS is the effortless way in which your Work Orders are re-costed to ensure that your estimated costs remain in line with your actual costs.
All the actual costs (material, outwork and production) are linked to Work Orders. Production times can be recorded live on the QuickEasy Job Tracker or they can be captured from a timesheet. Linked purchases of outwork and materials as well as stock requisitions complete the actual costing which is continuously updated and measured against the estimated costs on your Work Order.
